(9 Feb. 2019) Meritocracy Declared -- Transition to Begin Soon

IROKA -- The day where a form of government for the State of Sevetia was declared finally came. After three votes in the latest two days, the Sevetian People's Assembly approved a parliamentary system with a strong meritocratic component. As a notable feature, all government officials will be selected through an examination where their capabilities and fitness for the job will be tested.

The Executive Power will reside in the Cabinet, formed by the ministers and led by a President. They will be in charge of designing the plan and measures for the development of the country. The Legislative Power will reside in the People's Assembly. Their members will occupy his position in the Assembly for 1-2 years, without a chance to re-apply for a second term. The People's Assembly will elect the President by the following process: the Cabinet agrees to nominate one of the Ministers, then the People's Assembly approves or rejects the nomination. The Supreme Court will act as the Judicial Power.

With regard to prefectures, they will be run by "Government Councils", led by a Prefecture Chief. The Councils will coordinate development efforts with the national government. Prefectural and city courts will make the Judicial Power.

With the form of government defined, the next step to be taken is to assemble a system of examination of applicants. During the next weeks, teachers, psychologists, etc., will be called up to design the application process. After that, the first examinations will take place, and the first authorities will be known.
